John Z. Delorean--the Preston Tucker of the 80's...........

It appalls me just how bullying the big three can be, they seem to rub out any competitor ahead of it's time--they did it to Preston Tucker, and did it again to John Z. Delorean in the 1980's conceivably the Delorean could be considered the Tucker of the eighties. It was new and ahead of it's time, sure Gull-wing doors had been around before but Delorean made them look even better, and Delorean used a brushed stainless steel finish, that set it apart from anything the big three had ever made. So of course they offed him just as they had Tucker. Using the government against him and setting him up like they had done so many years ago to Tucker, the big three successfully put John Z. Delorean out of buissness.

The so-called drug dealing incident turned out to be a frame-job.

and sadly like Preston Tucker John Z. Delorean beat the big three and their government conspirators, in court. but sadly also like Tucker--his dream was never able to be brought back.

just as they had done to Tucker--they had bankrupt Delorean.

Pretty amazing the similarties between these two men-visonist ahead of their time, It would have been really great to see them work together. I think if they ever HAD they would have been able to create something amazing.
John Z. Delorean

I would take offense that the "alleged" crimes of Preston Tucker and John Delorean were similiar. While both may have been found "not guilty," there was never a question of "what" Delorean did. It was ruled entrapment, but nonetheless he did engage in an illegal activity. Temptation is a strong thing, but not everyone chooses to give-in.

Mr. Tucker was charged with several violations, never put on a defense and was found not guilty. A far cry from being exonerated by a technicality and a sympathetic jury.

Not that this detracts from Mr. Deloreans many talents and accomplishments. But not really a similiar story either. The Tucker Corporation was privately financed; government money (Ireland) financed Mr. DeLorean.

Preston Tucker was on a path that, without more financing, would have doomed his venture to failure. Now, did the government's action ensure that failure? Most certainly! But would he have succeeded without government intervention? No one will ever know for sure.

John Z. Delorean never did drugs and never admitted to doing any.

What happened in the sting was they asked him "Would this much money be enough to stableize your company?"

and he said "yes, it would" just trying to answer a simple question--there was no "drug deal" involved. he just answered a ordinary question as far as he was concerened he didn't know that the big three had gotten the government to frame him for a false drug charge......

Delorean, Big 3 ?,Set up?

Postby scottycmyahoocom » Mon Jul 21, 2003 11:40 pm
John Delorean was set up by a snitch/narc for the DEA& the FBI by the name of James Hoffman a "one time" aquantance of Delorean. Hoffman ratted JZD out, to
Keep himself out of prison...
As a Delorean auto owner and follower of the man and the car, I dont think the big three had much of anything to do with the demise of the company..
